Best Car Park Operation
Entry Criteria
This award recognises the fact that there are many great existing car parks across the UK that deserve recognition for the way they are operated and maintained. The award will recognise the operation of a specific car park. The sites may be multi-level or surface. They can be ones serving: a town centre; shopping centre; airport; railway station; park & ride service; hospital; university etc.

The criteria:
The entry should include details of:
  • Car park name, address, operator, owner, etc.
  • Number of spaces, levels, disabled parking bays, parent & child bays, cycle parking etc.
  • Brief history of the site - when built, when last refurbished, updated.
  • Nature of customer base - public, private, staff, contract, retail, passengers etc
  • Mode of operation - payment systems, opening hours, enforcement policy etc.
  • Physical environment - lighting, signing, lifts and stairwells etc
  • How the car park is staffed - number of staff, roles etc.
  • How the car park approaches customer service.
  • Ways in which the car park is marketed.
  • Engagement with local environment and community.
  • Innovative thinking - new technology, alternative uses, eventd etc.
  • Environmentally-friendly approach - energy saving measures, cycle parking, electric vehicle charging, etc.
Also include details of:
  • The individuals or team responsible for managing the car park.
  • Details of the destination or area that the car park serves (context).
  • Details of any recent or planned refurbishment.
  • Evidence of Life Care or planned maintenance approach.
  • Usage information - trends, patterns etc.
  • Publicity and marketing materials.
Please supply:
1. Images of the car park and operation.
2. Customer and client feedback/testimonials.
3. Press cuttings/Links to websites.
4. Details of Safer Parking Scheme Park Mark and other awards won.

Entries should be holders of a Park Mark, awarded under the Safer Parking Scheme. Safer parking status, Park Mark, is awarded to parking facilities that have met the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police. These requirements mean the parking operator has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, thereby doing everything they can to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime in their parking facility.

For customers, using a Park Mark® Safer Parking facility means that the area has been vetted by the Police and has measures in place to create a safe environment.

  • Clean environment
