| APCOA Living Streets Award Entry Criteria | ||
| This award is open to all local authorities and private companies operating, designing or maintaining either on or off-street parking operations that have improved access to, and the liveability of, town centres and their streetscapes (including car parks). This award is being presented in partnership with the national charity Living Streets and APCOA Parking (UK). The focus of the award is on what happens when motorists park and become pedestrians. Nominated projects should have had a positive impact on the environment in a town centre, neighbourhood or car park – whether they be a city centre or local shops and services. Eligible schemes might involve the provision of a variety of services including integrated transport schemes, better bus/train links, park & ride, guided buses, sensitive car parking and pricing, traffic management, shopmobility and provision for wheelchair/pushchair users. To qualify the project must have been completed after 1 July 2009. The criteria Was there a clearly identified problem to solve or objective to achieve? The objectives of the scheme and extent to which they were achieved. Evidence of cooperation between the organisations involved — parking operator, street designers, local authority, planners, street management teams, police etc Visual improvement to the street-scene, car parks, town centre, etc Design of signage and way-finding Maintainability of the scheme Where appropriate, the following areas should be addressed and supporting material provided: The individual or team responsible for delivering the solution Record of consultation and partnership working involved in delivering the solution Degree of innovative thinking and common sense applied to achieving the solution Evidence of successful implementation and customer/client feedback Evidence of the innovation’s success — user feedback, accessibility audits, etc Publicity and marketing materials About Living Streets Formed in 1929 as The Pedestrians Association, Living Streets is a charity that campaigns to create better streets and public spaces for people on foot. Its work spans policy, research, lobbying and advice, and delivers practical, positive solutions to pedestrian issues. Many of Living Streets’ projects revolve around improving the environments in neighbourhoods, including access to local and amenities, where significant environmental/traffic issues often have to be tackled. www.livingstreets.org.uk How to Enter Entry is free.
