| Best New Car Park Entry Criteria |

| This award is open to local authority and private car park operators, architects, developers and construction companies working separately or together, to deliver an outstanding parking facility. Car parks entered may be multi-storey, underground, surface, park & ride or part of mixed developments. Bearing in mind the difference between the forms, there will be distinct awards for multi-storey car parks and surface car parks. Entries in this category will also be eligible for consideration in the APCOA Living Streets Award. To qualify, the new facility must have been completed after 1 July 2009. The judges will be looking in particular for car parks which, amongst other things provide: Good design – which meets operators’ and users’ requirements Quality – of infrastructure provided Environmental considerations –extent to which positive benefits have been maximised Financial – extent to which the new facility represents overall best value The criteria The extent to which the scheme meets local needs The degree of co-operation and consultation which took place between the operator and highway & planning authorities, local business interests and, if applicable, residents Arrangements made for infrastructure maintenance Innovative design features Visual appeal of infrastructure Where appropriate the following areas should be addressed and supporting material provided: Has the scheme resulted in an effective operation? Does the overall scheme make best use of the resources and finance available? What payment systems and enforcement regimes have been introduced? Have revenue/usage expectations been met or exceeded? Does the scheme provide suitable and adequate facilities for all categories of user – disabled, motorcyclists, pedestrians etc? What are the facilities and working conditions for staff? What security systems does the facility provide? Has it had a positive effect on the environment (especially physical)? What are the signage arrangements, both internally and externally for drivers and pedestrians? How does the facility integrate with the immediate local area? To what extent have traffic management objectives been met? Has the car park obtained Safer Parking status? What other awards has the car park won? How to Enter Entry is free.
